Porsche's GTS family is further bolstered in Singapore by the introduction of the 911 GTS models, which for the first time includes a Targa variant in its repertoire. Previously a well-equipped, run-out model with a modest hike in engine performance and dynamics more suited to the driving enthusiast, the GTS models are now introduced early-on in the respective product life-cycles, with Cayman, Boxster, Panamera, Cayenne and now 911 iterations of the variant filling up the roster.

With its introduction during last generation's type 997 Mk2 era, the 911 C2 GTS was initially intended to offer enthusiasts a closer-to-GT3 driving experience without the latter's hard-edged, uncompromising character, all beautifully packaged in a wide-body.

However, in today's type 991, the 911 range alone accounts for almost five GTS variants, spanning rear-drive and four-wheel-drive configurations from Coupe to Cabriolet to Targa, with the Coupe and Cabriolet featuring both C2 and C4 GTS derivatives. Today, the 911 GTS fills the niche between C2S/C4S Coupes and GT3, with the GTS' sublime balance of sporty credentials and daily drive sensibilities.

As a performance-oriented model, the GTS gets the important stuff as standard, which are otherwise cost-optional on lesser 911s, including a 30bhp bump (430bhp/440Nm) in the performance of the flat-six 3.8-litre thanks to a X51 Powerkit.

Apart from trick aesthetic bits inside and out, as well as the wide-body ' a plus for the C2S, since four-wheel drive models already get the wide-body ' the GTS also gets the Sports Chrono Package (PDK with Launch Control now takes you from nought to 100km/h in 4 seconds flat), Sports Exhaust, motorsports-inspired centrelock 20-inch matte black wheels and snug sports seats, with just the right juxtaposition of Alcantara, leather and contrast trim in the cabin.
