You can now paint your living room exactly the same colour as your Porsche

Porsche Cars North America has announced a new collaboration with posh paint brand Backdrop, but instead of offering newly developed colours for the 911, Cayenne or Taycan, this time around things have worked out slightly differently.

As you may be able to tell from the eyeball-assault that is the image above, Backdrop has turned four classic Porsche paint colours into household paint so that you can remember your favourite Stuttgart model every time you walk into your living room/kitchen/bedroom/shed-because-that’s-the-only-place-your-partner-would-let-you-paint-in-a-Porsche colour. Phew.

The shades are Irish Green (first seen on a 356C in 1964), Speed Yellow (first appeared on a 964-gen 911 in 1991), Riviera Blue (developed in 1994 and used on the 911, 928 and 968) and the iconic Ruby Star (formerly known as Ruby Stone and seen on the 911, 928 and 944).

The only slight issue? Each colour comes in a custom ‘co-branded collectible paint can’ with a Porsche 75th anniversary leather keyring too. Doesn’t sound too bad, but this means that the price is an eye-watering US$75 per gallon.

Hope that Ruby Star feature wall you were planning doesn’t require two coats.
