Third-gen Range Rover Sport arrives in Singapore bringing with it more electro-n’-tech-o

Singapore - The Range Rover Sport arrives in Singapore, boasting MHEV tech and switchable-volume air springs. At press time, Land Rover Singapore revealed that the higher-spec HSE trim variant is going for $598,999, inclusive of COE.

The Range Rover Sport follows in the same design language as the flagship Range Rover, sporting a reductive design approach.

Four variants have been announced for sale, during its launch today at the ArtScience Museum today. The “base” Range Rover Sport begins with the SE trim, followed by HSE, Autobiography, and First Edition (First Edition being available for the first model year). The launch Range Rover Sport models are powered by the group’s familiar Ingenium 3.0 in-line six, further bolstered by a 48V mild-hybrid system; in all, it produces 400ps and 550Nm, which gets transferred to all wheels via a ZF-sourced 8 speed automatic. There is also a BMW-sourced 4.4 litre V8 version available upon request.

There is also a full electric variant announced for 2024, and an electric hybrid, the latter boasting a real world range of 740km and emissions from 18g/km.

Switchable volume air springs are a new inclusion for the brand, known for ‘the best 4 x 4 x far’ statement. They feature twin-valve active dampers, which Range Rover claim, provide new levels of agility, control and composure. The optional Stormer Handling Pack, improves manoeuvrability and handling, with the addition of Dynamic Response Pro, All-Wheel Steering and Electronic Active Differential with Torque Vectoring. The signature Terrain Response 2 system is now enhanced with road-focused Dynamic Mode, and Adaptive Off-Road Cruise Control.

The new Pivi Pro infotainment system we first saw in the flagship car, is fronted by a 13.1-inch curved screen; while the instrument panel consists of a 13.7-inch Interactive Driver Display. The new infotainment has been designed for ease of use, with less clicks needed to arrive at crucial functions. ‘Software Over The Air’, ensures that the infotainment stays updated. Both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are supported wirelessly, and ensuring mobile devices are juiced, the new RRS comes equipped with a 15W Wireless Device Charger.

In-cabin comfort features include 22-way adjustable front seats, which are heated and ventilated; and for those long distance drives, the relaxing qualities of a massage function and winged headrests. Quality audio is provided by a 29-speaker Meridian sound system, which is powered by a 1430W amplifier. The sound system also does the necessary job of hushing the interior, providing occupants with Active Noise Cancellation.

Safety has also been enhanced, with a suite of the latest in Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS). All Range Rover Sport models are equipped with Wade Sensing, ClearSight

Ground View7 and Manoeuvring Lights – Cruise Control, Driver Condition Monitor, Lane Keep Assist, Emergency Braking and 3D Surround Cameras.

Prof Gerry McGovern OBE, Chief Creative Officer, Range Rover, said: “Our latest range Rover Sport fully embraces our modernist approach of vehicle design whilst amplifying its unquestionable sporting and confident character.”

The new Range Rover Sport is available at the Wearnes Land Rover Singapore showroom, at 45 Leng Kee Road.
