Check out the Mercedes-AMG EQE 43 4Matic

Singapore - First, there was the Mercedes-EQ EQE. And now, we have the hotter, more powerful AMG variant of Mercedes’ electric E-Class equivalent. Say hello to the Mercedes-AMG EQE 43 4MATIC, the second AMG-ed electric vehicle from Mercedes to make landfall in Singapore.

Prices for the Mercedes-AMG EQE 43 4MATIC start at S$513,888 (accurate at the time of writing), while the more conventional EQE 350+ now starts at S$415,888.

If you haven’t read our coverage of the EQE 350+, here’s a recap: The EQE 350+ is powered by a lone electric motor in the rear that produces 292hp/565Nm, enabling it to hit nought to a hundred km/h in 6.4 seconds. Top speed, 210km/h. According to Mercedes, it has a combined range figure between 587 to 669km. There, all caught up.

Obviously, this AMG version ups the ante. So this EQE 43 4MATIC gets an AWD dual motor setup that produces a combined 476 horsepower and 858Nm of torque. It gets from 0-100km/h in 4.2 seconds but maxes out at the same 210km/h top speed. It shares the same 90.6kWh battery pack as the EQE 350+, which can be charged at a rate of 170kW under DC charging to 11kW with AC charging.

However, the estimated range figure of the EQE AMG drops from the standard EQE’s 669km to 534km. But who needs range when you’ve got performance?

To differentiate itself from the regular RWD EQE, the hotter variant gets an AMG-specific black panel grille that has vertical chrome slats. It also gets unique 21-inch Y-spoked rims (again, specific to the AMG) and additional 4MATIC badges on the front fenders.

The biggest change lies in the cabin, where Mercedes has seen fit to include the gigantic MBUX hyperscreen that we’ve seen in the AMG EQS 53 4MATIC+. Unlike the EQS 450+ however, the “regular” EQE cannot be specified with the ginormous screen.

The other AMG-specific additions on the interior include sportier seats, an AMG performance steering wheel with AMG function buttons, AMG sill plates and red seat belts. There are also a number of options that one could fit on their EQE 43 4MATIC. AMG carbon ceramic brakes, red brake calipers, a panoramic sunroof or if the stealth black look is your sort of thing, the AMG night package.

But be warned, these additions don't come cheap. The night package would set you back 5 grand, the red calipers for $3,600 and those carbon ceramics go for S$22,300.

But who needs savings when you’ve got performance?
