Stuck at home? Learn car things with the Petersen Museum

By topgear, 18 March 2020

From 17 March, 10am California time, the Petersen Automotive Museum will be holding twice-daily lectures and activities for students looking for additional learning as a result of school closures in the States.

We’re not students, but even we’re interested, because Thursday’s 10am slot is ‘Storytime’ featuring ‘Go, Dog, Go!’ by P.D. Eastman, where “students will read the beloved tale about dogs and their cars”. SIGN US UP IMMEDIATELY.

In all seriousness, it’s a great way of keeping kids entertained during the current global pandemic. As mentioned, the 10am sessions (1am Singapore time) consist of lectures, while the 1pm slots (4am in Singapore) are ‘hands-on activity’ times.

There’ll be things like understanding force and motion, designing your own balloon car, learning about the history of the car, creating your own licence plates, learning about the car design process and actually doing your own.

“The Petersen Automotive Museum offers students an opportunity to gain an education during school closure and in between their digital course loads,” explains PAM’s exec director Terry L. Karges.
