Ford Announces the new Ranger Pick-up

Singapore - Ford’s new Ranger pick-up is here, and will retail at $129,888 without COE. What we will get under the bonnet, is a 2-litre 4-cylinder turbo diesel engine, good for 168hp and 405Nm. Interestingly Ford will provide buyers with a choice of two 4WD systems - an electronic shift-on-the-fly system, or a full-time 4WD system which includes a set-and-forget mode for easier motorong.

Speaking of off-roading capabilities, the new Ranger’s front wheels have been moved forward by 50mm for better approach angle and outboard for improved off-road wheel articulation. The rear suspension has also been relocated outward of the frame rails for improved ride quality. For off-road recovery, the Ranger has dual recovery hooks located in the front bumper.

The infotainment consists of a large 10-inch touchscreen, powered by Ford’s new voice-activated SYNC4 operating system. The infotainment supports both Apple and Android devices wirelessly. For those camping trips, the Ranger’s new exterior Zone Lighting system can be activated via the touchscreen, which allows users to illuminate selected zones around the truck.

There is also better functional space, which include a new cargo management system designed to hold smaller-sized items like toolboxes, and re-inflation kits. There is also a tough plastic-moulded bedliner to protect the bed from scratches.

Active safety features include Forward Collision Warning with Brake Assist, Blind Spot Detection, Pre-Collision Alert, Evasive Steering Assist and Reverse Brake Assist, among others.
