Track & Feel : A Feel Day at the 2021 Lamborghini Huracán STO Driving Experience

Singapore - Trying to enjoy the full driving experience of a super-sportscar on the roads is like booting a fledgling out of the nest with its wings tied... and expecting it to fly!

If it's a proper motorsports homologation beast like the bewinged and very dramatic Lamborghini Huracan STO (short for Super Trofeo Omologata) you're talking about, it's a closed circuit you're after then...

One with plenty of technical twists, turns and straights to properly experience the aero downforce, visceral agility, blistering acceleration and heart-stopping CCM-R brakes of the lightweight nat-asp V10 rear-drive monster, much like the one we enjoyed at the Changi Exhibition Centre during the recent Huracán STO Driving Experience.

There are the regular Huracans, Huracan Performantes and Huracan EVOs (we drive it on ice HERE) and then there is the Huracan STO, a rock-and-raunchy road-going iteration of the brand's GT3 EVO race-car.

It's not an easy distinction to appreciate, but think of it this way: most sportscars are engineered as road-car first and then peppered with some track sensibility.

However, in the case of the Huracan Super Trofeo EVO/GT3 EVO-derived STO, it is track-car first, with some road sensibility thrown into the tempestuous mix for good measure. Geddit yet?

Motorsports homologation specials are few and far between (click HERE to read about the Toyota GR Yaris, another motorsports homologation special), operate in a superlative segment and are far more than mere status symbols.

It isn't just about stumping up the S$1.4+m price-tag for the Huracan STO, because the petrolhead buyers need to have the commitment and wherewithal to enjoy these cars to the fullest.

This means track outings, track outings and you guessed it, more track outings, because anything less wouldn't do any justice to the race-bred, track-honed sportscar.

Lamborghini Singapore is clearly on the same page, because it organised just what the doctor (of speed!) ordered earlier this week over a three day period to put prospects, owners and the media behind the helm of what's arguably the sharpest road-going Huracán ever.

Mr. Francesco Scardaoni, Regional Director of Automobili Lamborghini Asia Pacific said, "With the recent success of the Huracán STO launch in Singapore earlier this year, there could not be a better time to have Lamborghini enthusiasts experience the pure emotion of driving the highest performing V10 naturally-aspirated engine to-date by Lamborghini. The Huracán STO is designed for purpose and optimised for track use and we are excited to be able to demonstrate its track capabilities here in Singapore."

We're talking about a taut, technical circuit with a good mix of squigglys and straights, which allowed us to push the STO to its dynamic limits behind a lead car that clearly wasn't hanging around to hold our hands.

In a nutshell, this is exactly the STO experience in the hardcore Trofeo driving mode: unapologetically loud, uncompromisingly raw and unabashedly visceral... and because of all that, delivers unbridled fun!
